Practical Life

This part of the Programme caters for the young child entering the class. It is one of the most important areas in the Montessori Programme. Here your young child begins their journey developing co-ordination, concentration, independence, cognitive order, task organisation, fine motor skills and self-discipline to help function independently.

Activities are designed as a link between preschool and home. Children attempt practical tasks they see at home: sweeping the floor, watering plants, food preparation and baking, washing dishes, mastering buttons on a coat and putting on shoes.

Your child is introduced to activities appropriate to their level of skill, age and interest, enabling your child to learn fundamental skills, which they will refine as they grow.  Simple skills and disciplines give your child the confidence to achieve more challenging activities later, such as writing and tying shoe laces.
